Nyan Cat and Ron Make Nyan Ron!

Hey, so check this out

You’ve probably seen Nyan Cat before. It’s cute at first, weird at second, and then just downright annoying.

My friends and I figured that it’d be funny to remix the Nyan Cat video. So two weekends ago I filmed my friend Ron, who sat and stared directly into the camera for the duration of Nyan Cat, a feat I do not envy.

This weekend I put the film into post production (aka Final Cut Pro X) at my studio (aka my apartment).

First thing I did was key out the background of Ron so that I could stick Nyan Cat in its place. This was the first time I’ve used FCPX to key out anything and it’s also the first time I’ve ever done any type of keying. Let me tell you: FCPX made it ridiculously easy. Also this walkthrough by Ken Stone was exceptional.

So after I keyed out the background I stuck Nyan Cat there and began playing with some effects.

What you see is the finished product. It took a few short hours to do – including learning the new skills. I think it came out pretty well considering the time put in and the subject matter.

Have a watch.

P.S: I think my biggest accomplishment with this video was getting two YouTube downvotes within 20 minutes of it being posted. Rock on.

Louis C.K. Live At The Beacon

About a month ago I had the great fortune to watch Louis C.K. in concert at the Beacon Theater. He was amazing as usual. Full of fresh material and comedy that made my cheeks hurt so much from laughing that at points I just wanted him to stop talking so I could get a break.

This Saturday Louis C.K. is making his entire comedy special available to download and stream for only $5. The cost is well worth the comedy. I’m sure I’ll be getting my hands on this special to rewatch his jokes.

To help promote his upcoming release Louis posted an out-take clip from his special. He talks about evolution and the oddities of human beings. Watch the clip below and be sure to grab the special on Saturday.

New Charlie Christ Video Made With Final Cut Pro X

I spent most of my Sunday cutting together a new behind the scenes clip for my friends’ film, Charlie Christ: The Gospel According to Fools.

This is the first clip that I used some Creative Commons music and I think the result came out very nicely. Simply adding some music to the video added a great deal of excitement and flair and helped me obtain a level of quality that I don’t think I’ve hit before.

It was cut in Final Cut Pro X and I took full advantage of all of its new features, such as magnetic snap and clip connections. I’m so much more fluent with FCPX than I was with Final Cut Pro 7. Sure I didn’t spend that much time trying to learn FCP7 but then again the program didn’t make it particularly fun and interesting to learn.

The video is below. Have a look and let me know what you think.

Second Charlie Christ Trailer Released

Over the weekend I took part in a special event for a movie my friends are making called ‘Charlie Christ: The Gospel According to Fools’. I’ve helped my friends a fair amount with the production of this movie and over the weekend an event was held to update everyone on its progress, as well to release the second official trailer of the movie.
